Greetings dear faithful readers, as we welcome a brand new year 2026. I sure hope that everyone had wonderful Christmas and New Year’s Day with their family and friends. We enjoyed ours tremendously. We were blessed to spend lots of get-togethers with our family and friends and enjoyed good food and drinks. We made memories to last a lifetime.

We were saddened to hear of the passing of Joyce Denault, of Chapeau. She was predeceased by her former husband Leo Chassie, her beloved husband Darwin Cruise and her daughter Natalie. Joyce had lived in Waltham for a period of time. Our heartfelt sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends at this difficult time.

Warm birthday wishes are extended to Cobe Rabb, who celebrated her birthday on Jan. 1, to Dereck Grieve and Jacques Pilon, who celebrated theirs on Jan. 2 and to Tiffany Rivet, who celebrated on Jan. 3. We hope that you all enjoyed your special day.

It has been cold, but it is suppose to be milder this week. The rink is open at Paul Ryan Park thanks to the generous effort and dedication of the Waltham Fire Department. The snowmobilers are also enjoying the trails.
