On Friday evening, SADC Pontiac celebrated their 40th anniversary at a one-of-a kind venue and the evening was nothing short of magical. It took place in the Felix Gabriel Marchand (red covered bridge) in Mansfield. The community acknowledged and recognized the accomplishments of entrepreneurs and business leaders. Every level of government was represented and there was a cohesion and commitment that is core to what makes rural communities strong. The dinner and beverages were provided by local producers. Congratulations is extended to SADC Pontiac on this milestone celebration. All the best of success is wished to you in the coming years.

On Saturday evening, the Kendyl Smith-Trimm Caring for Kids CHEO Fundraiser was held at the Upper Pontiac Sports Complex in Chapeau. It was in memory of Cheryl Smith and Pat Trimm’s daughter Kendyl, who sadly lost her battle to cancer. There was good food, drinks raffles and door prizes. The fund raiser was a huge success.

On Sunday afternoon, the annual memorial gathering was held at the little white church on Ivy Hill. Corey Ferguson provided the message and the music. Afterwards, a tasty pot luck was served in the Waltham Town Hall.

Anniversary wishes and love are extended to Laurina and Gerald Dempsey, who celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on Sept. 14. May you be blessed with many more years of God’s richest blessings of health, happiness, love, peace and joy.

I sure hope that everyone manages to enjoy the beautiful summer weather that they are predicting this coming week.
