LUSKVILLE July 23, 2020

Municipality of Pontiac (MoP) firefighters were called to a house fire at 118 chemin des Allouettes in Luskville on July 23, putting the blaze out within . . .

an hour and a half.

According to Kevin Mansey, MoP interim fire chief, there was a male occupant inside the house that suffered injuries escaping the house before being transported to hospital.

The fire was an incredibly hot one, as Mansey said he could see the glow from Hwy. 148.

The dispatch call came in at 10:10 p.m. and when firefighters got on scene, they worked to protect the other buildings near the fire.

“Basically [the priority] was protect the surrounding buildings because there were four buildings that were surrounding it that were at risk of going up,” Mansey explained. “The vinyl siding on them had already sort of melted off.”

Due to the structure of the house, the firefighters had to bring a backhoe with them to pull the metal roof apart to extinguish the entire fire.

The cause of the blaze has yet to be fully determined.

When it was all said and done, Mansey said fire trucks were back at the station by 5 a.m.
