A 70-year-old man was sent to hospital with life-threatening injuries following an ATV collision in Alleyn and Cawood over the weekend, according to information from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

While other media are reporting the man has since passed away, SQ spokesperson Sergeant Marc Tessier said Tuesday morning the police had yet to receive confirmation from the family.

The SQ says emergency vehicles were called to the scene of the collision on Richard Road on Saturday, May 3 at 9 p.m.

Preliminary information indicates the ATV collided with a tree, and that the man was not wearing a helmet. The SQ report says alcohol may have been a contributing factor.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
