When things don’t work

When things don’t work

My heater in the living room stopped working. I was cold. At first I thought it was me and put on another sweater. Then I checked. Sure enough it had quit. Almost bedtime, I thought, in the morning I will call the electrician who installed it. I began to pray. God says in the book of James, if we need wisdom, ask. So I did.

When I called, he reminded me of the reset button. For the life of me, I could not find it. I seriously tried. Then I called my neighbour and sure enough, he did, and my heater clicked on. A very simple glitch in the scheme of things but scary for me. I imagined paying lots of money to replace the faulty heater. It’s often what I do when things break down. Instead the problem was fixed easily. No cost!

I have faced much bigger struggles. And always, the Lord is faithful. I am not alone. No matter how big, or small the problem we face, He cares. Just ask.
