The 62nd annual Santa Claus parade, this year titled the Parade of Lights, made its way through Shawville Saturday evening.

The parade was organized by the municipalities of Shawville and Clarendon in collaboration with the Shawville Lions Club.

Floats lined up on West Street and started their journey through town at 5 p.m.

As each of the 20 floats passed by, the excitement grew for the parades final entry, Santa Claus, riding on the Lions Club float.

Prizes donated by the muncipalites of Shawville and Clarendon, for several categories were handed out at the fairgrounds after the parade.

The winners were as follows:

Best Overall – New Hope Christian Fellowship Church

Top Children Entries – Grace Community Bible Church and Shawville Figure Skating

Top Business Entries – Sublime Motorsports, Emmerson Excavation and Custom Tree Services

Best Volunteer Organization Entry – Shawville Lions Club

Best Horse Entry – Kelly Tanner and Grace Pasch

Then, for the first time in a few years, children were able to see Santa and tell him their wish lists in the arena lobby afterwards.

Santa made his way to Shawville and paraded down Main Street waving and greeting all the excited children who couldn’t wait to see him.
New Hope Christian Fellowship Church was the winner of Best Overall Entry during the Shawville-Clarendon Parade of Lights on Saturday.
For the first time in a few years, Santa was able to take time out of his busy schedule and greet kids in the arena lobby following the parade. Brothers Tanner, Peyton and Bryden Moloughney were excited to give him their lists.
Kelly Tanner, with great niece Mary-Jane Brownlee and his team of Percheron mares, Shamrock Piper and Shamrock Darcy, were a sight to be seen during the Parade of Lights in Shawville Saturday evening. This event kicked off the Christmas parade season in the Pontiac with four more this coming weekend.
Meredith McGuire was a little less smiley than Mom Kellieann Beck while seeing Santa, but there were no tears.
