Many Sheenboro families had their own floats at the Canada Day parade. The Brennans, who have a farm in Chichester, sported a float featuring shamrocks displaying names of theirs and other historic Sheenboro families.
Members of the 50 Plus Club, dressed in red and white, traveled the Otter Lake parade route in a trailer they decorated. Charles Dagg was one of the many kids partaking in the local activities provided at the Sand Bay Canada Day event, which featured a barbecue, bouncy castles, and face painting.
Stacey Thomson (right) organized the Sand Bay Canada Day event on Sunday with the help of Duncan Taylor (left) who provided more than a dozen carnival games for members of the community to enjoy. “We held it a day early to avoid clashing with Shawville’s parade and fireworks,” Thomson said. “It’s about bringing everyone together on a positive note and celebrating Canada’s birthday.”
Councillors and staff from the Municipality of Alleyn and Cawood (from left) Mona Giroux, Sydney Squitti, Darryl Mayer, Mayor Carl Mayer, Director General Isabelle Cardinal, James Giroux and Guy Bergeron served up free hot dogs and burgers for the Danford Lake community during the town’s Canada Day celebrations on Monday.
Gisele Beaudin (left) and Debi Bergeron (right) were running a bake sale with treats donated by the community to raise funds for installing a new wheelchair-accessible ramp at the Danford Lake community centre.
There were plenty of games on Saturday afternoon during Ladysmith’s Canada Day festivities to keep children and their families occupied. Deep in a game of Connect Four are (from left) Marissa Moore, Hayden Moore, their son Arthur, and Brett Carson.

Bentley Chartrand (left) and Lawson Coles were among the 67 young racers who competed in the annual Soap Box Derby in Shawville on Sunday for a series of adrenaline-rushing races down Victoria Avenue. The event, organized by the Shawville-Clarendon Fire Department, saw hundreds of people line the sides of the street to watch the races. Two racers would line up on a custom-built ramp, where a manually operated gate would drop, sending the cars flying down the hill to a yellow finish line at the bottom.
Members of the Shawville 4-H Club were all smiles while participating in the Canada Day parade.
