The Pontiac Agricultural Society (PAS) tried something new last Tuesday, and it was a resounding success with over 100 people coming out to try their luck with Bingo.

Heather Dale, PAS financial officer and one of the organizers of the event, said that they had purchased the Bingo machine last year in hopes that they could hold more events in the community. The goal was also to be able to use the Lifestyle building at the Shawville fairgrounds a little more in the off-season.

Cost for a card was $15 and there were, in total, 10 games played through the course of the evening, ranging in the traditional one line Bingo to a full card, with a few trickier ones being thrown into the mix, such as the letters H and T. Monetary prizes ranged depending on what game was being played, and a few rounds even had a mystery prize included.

PAS Director Ken Bernard was the Bingo caller for the night reciting numbers in both English and French, and even adding a bit of humour to some of the calls.

Dale said she was pleased with the turnout, more tables and chairs had to be added last minute to accommodate all the attendees. She also mentioned that this was the first of many Bingo events with the next one being held December 5.
