The Equity

I have cousins in the Maritimes, a brother in the West, and friends in other provinces. When I was younger, I kept in contact by writing letters. Every other option, of which there were few compared to today, were out of reach for me. Still, words on a page can relay feelings and concern and I still feel close to these people. They are a part of my life.

But there is a distance which I have travelled regularly. It is the best place of all. In it I spend time with my closest friend. It’s called prayer. I communicate with God. Imagine! Prayer, with practice, has become a refuge, a place of comfort. Storms cannot break the connection; neither can trouble of any kind. I can, but why would I? God cares about our every need. He may seem far away but in reality, He’s as close as the mention of His name!
