The celebrations for Canada’s 150th were well underway in Bristol over the weekend with a dinner and fireworks on Saturday night followed by a parade on Sunday afternoon.
The parade started off by the community skating rink on Second Line, winding onto River Road and Wharf Road before ending up at the Norway Bay beach.

There were all kinds of participants, from pipers, to elaborate floats, vintage cars and even a couple of Disney characters.
Organizer Elaine Findlay was pleased with the turnout.
“Oh my God, the streets were lined with people,” she said, adding that there were about 35 individual entries in the parade.
At the conclusion on the beach, volunteers from the committee served ice cold water and 150 hotdogs to the assembled crowd.
“Those 150 hotdogs didn’t last long, I’ll tell you that much,” Findlay said.
She thanked all the volunteers that made this weekend’s 150 celebrations possible.
