Close to 300 people gathered at McLellan Park in Norway Bay on Saturday night for a community dinner hosted by the Bristol 150 Committee.
Organizer Pat Vail said they had about 270 people out for the meal under the big tent, which was catered by Café 349.
“This is for Canada’s 150th birthday,” she said.
Musical entertainment during the evening was provided by local musicians Ursula Schultz and Steve Schellenberg.
“I love coming back to my hometown,” said Schultz. “It’s really intimate. People in the Pontiac are really big supporters.”
Bristol councillor Greg Graham was pleased with the committee’s initiative.
“They took the lead on this and it’s been great,” he said.
After darkness fell, fireworks were launched off the end of the pier to cap off the evening with a bang.
