Another vendor market was in town this weekend, but this time it was a three day event, unlike the more common one day. The Pontiac Provincial Tournament Vendor Market was held at the Shawville Lions Hall, upstairs from where the hockey tournament was happening, and saw 14 vendors on site with a wide variety of goods for sale.

Organizer of the market, Trish White-Milford said all in all it was a good weekend.

A canteen was also available upstairs, and Trish said she got positive feedback from a lot of the parents saying it was nice to come in and shop and also have something to eat, between games going on downstairs.

“Some of them had a game at 10, some had a game at 6 so it was something for them to do in between, because there’s not much to do around town and stuff, so they hit every store in town they said and then they were able to shop here too,” Trish explained.

It was Trish’s first time organizing a market and when asked if she would do it again she didn’t hesitate. “I would, it was not too bad,” she said, adding that “The committee was good to help me out through everything, and all of the vendors are good to deal with. They know what it’s like, they’ve organized stuff before so they know how it goes.”

Proceeds from the vendor fee of $20 each for the whole weekend, was donated back to the Pontiac Provincial Tournament.

“This year was a little harder for them too, because they had to lower the fees for the teams so they were able to actually have the tournament. So the little bit of money that we made here, might help them with their little kitty for next year,” Trish said.
