My pup and I went to the park to play ball. Everything was going fine until he decided to get a drink. As he ran closer I started to cry out “don’t!” Too late! He dropped his ball and began to drink. The creek roaring along has a small waterfall. The ball disappeared.

We searched and searched, up and down, with him in and out of the water, me on the bank, to no avail. We had to head home without it.

How do you explain to an animal when they look to you to fix the problem? You can’t. Thankfully, I know he’ll get over it. He won’t hold a grudge.

Harder though than that experience, how do you explain to a person when things go wrong and they don’t understand? There is only one key. Forgiveness.
