Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day

The Equity

Sunday past, was a beautiful day weather-wise and otherwise this year, a day when motherhood is celebrated. I was able to enjoy seeing two of my sons.
In the afternoon, I went to the lot my youngest son bought 25 years ago. I remember the day well. We walked together as he told me about his plans. They were good plans. He would someday build a house, when he found the right girl, maybe raise a family. He disappeared mysteriously that summer.
The years have slipped by. I have planted apple trees on his lot. I thank God for the time I had with him. Far too short in my estimation but none the less, I am thankful. I’m thankful as well for his faith. I will see him again. That’s a promise from God.
Words to hold onto… don’t take anyone for granted. Find a way to get along. Love the people God brings into your life. And be ready. We’re all living on borrowed time.
